La búsqueda del ser amado en medio de la adversidad de la guerra civil estadounidense, protagonizada por un soldado que desea regresar a Could Mountain, a los brazos de Ada Monroe, quién lo espera eternamente en una granja empobrecida. Ambos deberán enfrentar una serie de obstáculos, mientras sueñan con la posibilidad lejana de encontrarse. En este camino agudo y agreste, compartirán situaciones límites, siempre con la posibilidad de la desgracia. Inman, el soldado, deberá enfrentar las vicisitudes de un guerrero desertor en medio de la crisis del hambre y la constante moral inquisidora de aquellos que traicionan a la patria. Ada por su lado, deberá hacer frente a los constantes ataques del comisario del pueblo, pero tendrá la compañía de una nueva amiga, Ruby, quién le enseñará a trabajar en aquellas tareas diarias de una granja.

Hermosas tomas de paisajes, un elenco envidiable, un Oscar para la mejor actriz de reparto (Rene Zellweger), hacen de esta historia un buen relato del fallecido, pero prolífico director Anthony Minghella.

The search of the beloved in the middle of adversity of the American Civil War, led by a soldier who wants to return to Could Mountain, into the arms of Ada Monroe, who is eternally waiting eternally on a impoverished farm. Both will face a series of obstacles, while dreaming of the possibility of being together. In this sharp and rugged road, shared extreme situations, always with the possibility of misfortune. Inman, the soldier, will face the vicissitudes of a warrior defector amid, the crisis of hunger and constant moral inquiring of those who betray their country. Ada meanwhile, will face the constant attacks of the Commissar, but she will have the company of a new friend, Ruby, who will teach her, the work on those daily tasks of a farm.

Beautiful landscape shots, an enviable cast, an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress (Rene Zellweger), make this story a good tale of the deceased, but prolific director Anthony Minghella.

Los Pilares de la Tierra. (TV Mini-serie. Sergio Mimica). Canada-Alemania. 2010.

Desde hace un tiempo a esta parte, las mini-series televisivas en formato cine nos están encantando. Y como muestra, un botón: la excelentísima e intrigante serie de 8 capítulos titulada “Los Pilares de la Tierra”, adaptación del libro del autor de bestsellers Ken Follett. Nos situamos en la Edad Media, en el período de anarquía inglesa, en dónde la disputa por el trono de Inglaterra se encuentra supeditado a traiciones y juegos de poder. En este ambiente, una familia busca su destino a partir de la construcción de una magnífica catedral en un pequeño priorato que le es devoto a San Alfonso, y en el cual se espera entregar paz y prosperidad a sus monjes y  habitantes. No será una tarea fácil, ya que la ambición por los territorios, la política del período, la prepotencia de la Inglesia Católica y las múltiples batallas, hacen crear un mundo lleno de complejidades e intrigas. Excelentes personajes, historias principales y secundarias muy bien creadas, y una soberbia ambientación, hicieron que esta serie fuera una maravillosa entretención para las heladas noches de invierno. ¡Recomendable!

For a will to this part, the sitcoms in movie format have been delighted. And the proof ins in the pudding: the excellent and intriguing sitcom of 8 chapters named “The Pillars of the Eatrh”, adapted from the book of the bestseller’s author, Kent Follett. We are located in the Middle Ages, the english period of anarchy, where the battle of the england’s throne is subject to the power plays adn betrayals. In this enviroment, one family try to find their destiny since the contruction of a magnificent cathedral in a small priory, wich is devoted to San Alfonso, and tries to give peace and propsperity to their monks and inhabitants. It will not at easy task, because the ambition for territories, the political performance of this period, the arrogance of the Catholic Church and the multiple battles, created a full world of complexities and intrigues. Great characters, major an minor stories very well created, and a superb admosphere, made this sitcom a wonderful enterteinment for the icy Winter nights. Recommended!
